Re: Random thing you want to ask

Jo, Sugar, help me out here—-wtf was (not sure which sister) Fanning thinking here? She looks like one of those things your spinster aunt crocheted to cover the extra roll of toilet paper on the back of the toilet tank. (Also, Angie is granted 12 yrs young than me, but jesus with those shoes. They’r...

At first I thought this would just be a hoot, and then I felt sort of bad, and then I thought he said some kind of insightful things, and then I felt bad again, and then I realized he’s truly serious about his craft which made me feel worse, but then he seems self-aware, but at the same time, he’s s...

Re: TV Streaming Thread

In a very different vein, I just discovered that Amazon Prime has a bunch of one of my very favorite cooking shows from the early 90s, the Great Chefs series, which used to air on Discover. It’s very straight ahead, light on narration, and no fanfare, just watching excellent chefs prepare a full mea...

Re: Yet Another RIP

He really was one of a kind. I have to go back and watch some of his earlier stuff--my FB feed today was stuffed with people discussing movies I never heard of/knew he was in. And I've never watched Maidstone, though the story of him hitting Norman Mailer over the head with the hammer is legendary.

Re: Random thing you want to ask

Can someone (maybe one of the British FWers) explain Bird’s Custard to me? It’s too thin to be what Americans call pudding. It doesn’t seem thick enough to be a layer in trifle, either. It’s pourable, which just seems like a .... weird texture for a dessert type thing. What’s the deal with this stuf...

Re: Random thing that made you laugh

I like McKinnon, though I always worry when L Michaels and SNL seem to really put one cast member out front—I think of it as Kristin Wiig syndrome. And I think maybe the thing I find funniest about that To Have and Have Not sketch is a) how hard McKinnon is trying to not break and b) the fact that s...

Streaming services I didn’t know about

I’m sure many of you probably already know about this, but I had no clue. There are 2 streaming services that you can link to your public library acccount that carry thousands of streaming movies—including much/all of the Criterion Collection, Miramaxc collection, new stuff, old stuff, etc. You can ...

:green: from me as well. Even though I rarely played, I always read along. Honestly, I don’t know how any of you guys find the time and stamina to do things like this, or blog, or be involved in lengthy trivia games. Hat’s off to you for putting in the time and energy to keep us entertained.

Cooper, Whitford--all those white Bradleys are interchangeable, aren't they? ;)

Re: The Last Three Movies You've Watched

OMG, Bucky watched a movie? Kif, alert the men. Dazed & Confused First time. Yes, that’s right. And this clearly suffered, as I’m sure I would have enjoyed it much more had I seen it at an earlier point in my life. At first I was annoyed with everyone at that typical teenage “I’m immortal” attitude ...

OMG I know one!!
Spoiler
1001 - Night of the Comet. One of my favorite silly 80s movies, and one I still can’t scroll by if it’s on, I have to stop and watch it. Mr. B does not find this quirk of my personality endearing.
1005 - is that Matt Dillon’s ear?

We all know that when Adam Sandler misses, he’s truly terrible. In fact, I’d mostly forgotten that he could be funny. But this really made me laugh.

Re: Random thing that interested you enough to post it

Fair enough—-whereas I like to think of it as a much more fun way to pay taxes to my state. I mean, when I file my taxes every year and send them my hard-earned money, there’s zero chance they’re gonna send back even $20 million, much less a billion dollars. I consider it entertainment spending, on ...

Thanks—Scruluce suggested the same thing. I tried that from work and instead all I got was a huge blank space in the post. I think it must be some kind of interaction with the work firewall, because from there, I can’t see the Lehrer video either—-it’s just a big blank space in the post with no link...

Okay, it's been stuck in my head for days, everyone has to suffer along with me. And by the way, if you're not watching this show on SyFy--which is The Magicians --I urge you to do so. The first season is a little meh, seems like a Potter derivative with sex and drugs added. The second season was ve...
