Marie Antoinette :2stars: Playing Siouxsie and the Banshees and Gang of Four in the background of a "period piece", while charming, does not a movie make  Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie :4stars: On the big screen! The Stanely Kubrick box set! I figure it is a good way to start my measly DVD collection...now I just need to decide which film I'm going to watch first. Eyes Wide Shut is the only one of his I haven't seen in that set: opinions? Keep it that way. (Actually, I didn't think it was that bad, but it's...

Might as well post something while I'm here... The Sea Inside Actually, I had no qualms with this film, but I don't think I can't give it five stars. I found it very interesting; Javier Bardem was fabulous. The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill I was so let down by this film because I've been a documen...

Oh, and Mr. Smithee...the title is of the album is Genesis. And the artists are those two little sisters pictured on the cover. They're like the Shaggs, except less kitschy and more tuneful. Like, they harmonise. And stuff. Sorry -- was just fishing for someone to post a monologue from American Psy...

Festival Express An obvious 5-star rating from me--Sha Na Na appearance not withstanding. La Dolce Vita How very snappy. It did run a bit long and some of the stories seemed only half done (which, I suppose, was the point), but for the most part, I thought it was a very interesting film. The papara...

Wow, Fun Trick Noisemaker ... Strangely enough, I was thisclose to buying the Neutral Milk Hotel album, but I had ordered the Apples one, so I thought it was my calling. I dig 'em; I have the Her Wallpaper Reverie EP, too. Oh yeah, and I was going to ask, when reading one of your other posts in her...

The Village Ugh. There was nothing redeeming. Not even those mustard yellow capes I was so keen on when I first saw the previews. Shall We Dance Let's see, this is a weird movie to start to appreciate Richard Gere, but after years of being an anti-Gere person, I found him quite endearing in this. I...

Just to update on my life...my friend bought me a DVD player for Christmas for a gift exchange. So, now I have a DVD player, yet still continue to watch videos. But hey, at least there's one aspect in my life that is moving forward in time Anyway: Sideways I liked the screenplay and I liked Paul Gia...

I learned that, too, in the brief time I was in a foreign country. Tipping isn't expected and you can stay at a restaurant as long as you want and the server won't bug you until you ask them to take away your plates and stuff. I thought that was cool.

Haven't had the color thought, but it makes sense. I have pondered what would happen if you put your left eyeball into your right eye socket and vice versa. And what would have happened if Sammy Davis Jr's glass eye shattered. These are the things that keep me awake at night...

I met Chris Isaak, briefly, last Friday--I didn't even really know who he was before then. He was doing a CD signing and he asked me if I wanted him to perform a Led Zeppelin song, because I was wearing a Zeppelin shirt. I said thanks, but no thanks. And that was that...at least it was sort of diffe...
