Hamlet (1948) :4.5stars: Damn, wish I'd seen this years ago. Olivier was great, but I was equally impressed by Simmons' Ophelia.

Cimarron :2stars: A big old meh - I just never managed to care. And I don't expect courtroom scenes to ever be accurate, but this one was particularly jarring.

48/82

West Side Story DVD :3.5stars:
I have to admit, the first 30 minutes were really strange to watch -- am I really supposed to think these two gangs, singing and dancing and prancing about, are that scary? Bernstein & Sondheim did a great job with the music and lyrics, although at times I wasn't that impressed by the actors singing them--parts of the songs just sounded a little off. I wondered how the film was going to end, and wasn't disappointed. There's some great choreography and cinematography throughout, hurt a little by overexposure through other media. And now, I am more curious about the bilingual revival on Broadway.

Copy all. You are officially bi-curious.

Is there a reason why this was updated, and my Cimarron post immediately above it wasn't? Someone have an issue with my review or something? :D

Slumdog Millionaire :3.5stars: Good, but not great.

Sadly, its the only one of last year's best picture nominees I've seen  , so I can't gripe about it winning (yet).

Can I get the list updated to reflect my watching Gandhi? Since I'm getting double credit off it, my review is elsewhere.

The Great Ziegfeld :3stars: Some really good performances, especially from Powell. But the scenes with the shows actually bored me, and I kept checking the running time.
