Watched True Grit yesterday which means I have seen all ten of this years nominees so I will be a perfect 83/83 when the winners are announced on the 27th.

Just went back to look at the first post, can I get a check for The Bridge on the River Kwai, since I did watch it?

And can we also add The King's Speech to everyone's list - checked for me. Thanks!

Pretty please?

Also Marty :2.5stars: So, I was all charmed and into it at the beginning, but once they went back to his place, it got real slow. Plus, I found the ending a little abrupt: everything's going to be better because he just decides to go for it? You telling me an Italian mother couldn't still cause a ton of problems?

Okay, I added The King's Speech, checked you and knarf for it and added checks on Marty and TBOTRK for you. Can you check and make sure I got everything right? Has any of the other 4 participants seen The King's Speech yet?

Sorry Mazer. I swear I did this when you first asked, but I guess not. FAIL

Thanks, dawgs. Looks good except for one thing - by my count, I should be at 65. My i check movies list confirms this. Can I get you to change that too?
As for King's Speech, I don't know, ask them.

No worries. You can always make it up to me by beating dawgs to the edit above.

Okay, no problem. As for the King's Speech, I said it a bit awkwardly, I was asking them.

The Best Years of Our Lives :4stars: Gripping and touching, I just felt that everything wrapped up a little too neatly. Great acting all around.

Oliver! :2.5stars: Kind of boring really, I never got into it. And while some of the musical numbers with adult leads were great (thinking of "You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two"), it would have been nice if they found an Oliver who could sing.

You Can't Take It With You :3stars: Cute enough, and having a crazy family of my own, I can certainly relate, but the ease with which everything worked out (just play the harmonica!) made me roll my eyes. A little too Capra, I guess.

Just watching one of these right now, so dug up this thread. Can a mod add The Artist to our lists on the first page? Checked off for me.

Also:
Going My Way :2.5stars: Blandly enjoyable, but it might have been better if there was a real antagonist at any point, rather than issues solvable within a couple scenes. Also, I realize it was of a different era, but I found the neighbourhood busybody reporting on the woman with her gentleman caller and then the priest running over to investigate very offensive.

Also:
Terms of Endearment :3.5stars: Solid, but I never got too into it. Many of the mother/daughter scenes did ring true to me. The saying goodbye to the kids scene, which I'd been warned was heartbreaking, was. I just didn't love how episodic it was, even though I know that was the point, to show the relationship over time. And yes, a great performance by Maclaine particularly.

Check marks please?
