So, old-timers may recall that I used to post anecdotes about my mom's thoughts about various movies as well as her inability to distinguished between anyone who has ever acted in a film. Anywhere. (To wit: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.)

Another one popped up today and I was debating where to put it, then I thought 'hell, why not just start a thread?'

Today's movie was Moneyball. Issue 1: Movie starts with Billy Beane, in the empty stadium, listening to radio coverage of the A's loss. He keeps turning the radio off, then on again. Mom: "Is he dead?

Later, when Jonah Hill shows up, "Hey it's that guy from...[looks at me, makes note of the look I'm giving her]...you finish the sentence". Turns out the from she was thinking of was The Wolf of Wall Street ("with Lenny...Leonardo DiCaprio").

I would SO like this to become a regular addition to FW.
And "But he has a mustache!" makes me laugh. Every. Single. Time.

And SoS's mom, while we're at it. Have you figured out a joined viewing for them yet?

I just watched a Moneyball clip in another thread, and while swimming through threads I haven't read, came across this. It's a Moneyball kinda day I guess.
Mazer make your Mom watch more movies!
My Mom misquotes the same movie and has for years. I corrected her once, but don't have the heart to tell her again. This will tell you how long it's been going on.
Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead
Christina's boss tells her to say "I'm right on top of that, Rose" whenever she's on the phone with a client.
My Mom says "I'm on it CJ".
 Gotta love her.

The only thing I have to report from the last few months is my mom's desire to see that new movie "with Brendan Cumberback". We're planning on a few movie screenings this week, so hopefully there'll be some worthwhile commentary.

in her defence, I'm not sure that that isn't his real name

She didn't think much of Jim Carrey's acting in Foxcatcher. Her opinion didn't improve when I told her it was Steve Carell.

In fairness, that was pretty heavy make-up.

And

So the other day in the car, my mom started talking about how much she didn't want to see the new movie with Amanda Seyfried and Adam Sandler. I thought that combo seemed a little odd, but it's not like I know everything that's coming out. My mom announces that she also knows that Charlize Theron is in it. I check out Amanda's imdb page, confirm that there's nothing with with Seyfried and Sandler, at which point my mom offers that "maybe it's the other Jewish guy".

Eventually turns out she was talking about While We're Young, with Amanda Seyfried, Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts.
