Potter's Divination Teacher Cast
Emma Thompson to play Professor Trelawney
06/10/2003

Image

Hogwarts' flaky fortune teller has found a face, according to the Herald Sun, with Emma Thompson scheduled to gaze into her crystal ball in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

The quite clearly fraudulent professor Trelawney is tasked with teaching Harry and his friends the finer arts of tea leaf-reading, palmistry and other prescient arts, her pretence occasionally disrupted by the odd genuine vision. A small role to be sure but Emma Thompson does seem an excellent choice to fit the part. Joining Gary Oldman, Julie Christie and the already august Hogwarts faculty, Thompson is certainly in good company among what must be the most impressive Potter line-up yet.

More casting for Azkaban

I'm just a few years behind the times, but have finally read books 1 thru 4, and now that I've read 'em, I want the next movie to come out now, darn it!!

You finished book 4 and didn't immediately buy book 5??
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

Well... no, because I have 1-4 in paperback, so I can't buy #5 'til it matches. But I can borrow the hardback from a friend while I wait for the paperback to come out.

Is that anal? I just like things to match!

p.s. Awesome avatar. Turd Ferguson really is a funny name!

Thanks. I'm normally quite anal about books, too, but my HP books are:
1 & 2: American paperbacks
3 & 4: UK paperbacks
5: UK hardback

(And thanks for the avatar compliment -- I love those skits!)

Ok... then I don't feel so bad that I really want to buy The Dark Tower series in hardback even though I own them in trade paper back already. Or the fact that I own two of Hearts in Atlantis (one US hardback and one UK hardback)... etc (don't get me started)

Just getting everyone's attention again; it's about time we resurrect this thread. Anyway, I found some casting news for Goblet, and I posted it in the Goblet thread (in Movie News).

Pretty excited about the next one. My sister came to town and we went to gawk at Radio City for the New York premiere. I only got to see Malfoy, but my sister saw a bunch of people.

I haven't been this excited about a movie ever. Not even ROTK. I love the third book and the cast is just too good to be believable almost. Too bad it doesn't come out till the 9th, but I've got my tickets ready still.

Lisa (pointing at J.K.R.): Look, it's J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books!
Lisa (to J.K.R.): You've turned a generation of kids onto reading.
J.K.R.: Thank you, young Muggle.
Lisa: Can you tell me what happens at the end of the series?
J.K.R.: He grows up and marries you. Is that what you want to hear?
Lisa (dreamily romantic): Yes.

You see, Hopsi, you don't know very much about girls. The best ones aren't as good as you probably think they are and the bad ones aren't as bad. Not nearly as bad.

You know, the gentlemanly thing to do would not be to laugh in my face, but rather invite me out on a spectacular date.
