Yeah, just had to open a thread for this.
I'm seeing it on Friday, but it opens tomorrow over here. So I sure hope noone will spoil anything before then...

I'm very pleased with how this went. Made it extra special to be able to share this experience with my family. Terrifically done and simply a lot of fun.

That. Was. Awesome.

I went by myself and am having a hard time finding anyone who's seen it so I can discuss. I have some thoughts. :D

Spoilers are now permitted. As I'm currently on my phone, I'll share my thoughts later.

I'm scared to spoil this out loud so:

Spoiler
I cried almost the entire movie. Happy tears when Star Wars came on screen as the theater clapped and whooped. More here and there but especially when my man was killed while poor Chewey watched. Ugh, that ripped my heart out.
So I think Rey is Luke's daughter. I think she is going to train with him and then return to attempt to take Ben down...but in the Star Wars fashion I bet he will see the light and come back from the dark side before she can kill him.

Been forever since I been on filmwise Star Wars is good enough to come back for though. Good to see the regulars on here.

Random thoughts:
Loved the movie, was like visiting a familiar place and hanging out with people you know. Not a dull moment. Kylo Ren's use of the force while amateur was bad ass. BB-8 was great. New cast was my main worry but was surprised. Spymeg, yep the scene on the bridge, you see it coming but damn, so sad.

I'm off to see it AGAIN on Tuesday.

For me the best parts were Poe and Finn. I really thought Poe would be the moody hardened fighter but the humour with Finn was spot on. Finn and Rey also got on perfectly. The 'don't hold my hand' but getting great laughs.
Kylo was just perfect. Angry. Scary. Not quite fully dark until THAT happened! Yes we all saw it but all loved it. That's the point of this being great. We saw it coming but didn't care. When Kylo was mind reaching for Lukes Saber we all knew it'd fly to Rey.

The only bit I didn't get was the big woman storm trooper. She was just a bit shit. Hopefully she'll have lots more to do in the next one.

My mum took me to the original a long time ago so I'm taking her to see this one. Can't wait to see it again! Can't wait for part 8. Abrams done good!

I think its pretty clear who Ray's parents are. Its clearly Luke (her reaction to touching the lightsaber, everyone is related, etc) and R2D2. Luke used the force to impregnate R2. Both Luke and R2 are ashamed of what they have done. R2 reacts by shutting down and going into low power mode. Luke is afraid he can't protect her from his evil apprentice Ben (and whoever the hell Gollum is) so he dumps her in the desert. Seems like if she was another Solo child that Kylo would have recognized her and since its Star Wars it seems like she has to be related to one of the force users we already know.

Is the McGuffin map a map to the Jedi temple or to Luke's actual location?

Unless Leah knows that Ray is Luke's kid, why would she send her to be the one to find Luke on the island? Also, why did she seek her out to hug after she arrives back from the final battle? Seems like Leah has to either be the aunt or the mom. Maybe she's a bastard baby from someone that impregnated Leah while she was a Jabba slave.
