8 year old A² really loved Mr T and thought his parents were totally unfair when they did not allow him to see this. In hindsight, their denial is perfectly reasonable. Its a little crazy for me to think that Joel Schumacher followed this with St Elmo's Fire. It feels like the two films could hardly be more different. However, browsing through his career he seems to be comfortable jumping from genre to genre.

Weird Science

Its strange that Robert Downy, Jr, in his small role, ended up being a bigger star than everyone else in the movie combined. Anthony Michael Hall had a good early run and Bill Paxton clearly has had a good career but no one else did much. Between this and Back to School, Downy was gunning for the role of best 80s villain that Zabka ended up winning. I'm afraid to look at this movie through a modern lens and poke holes in all the things that made it so great in its time.

Offspring

Well, this is probably the least disturbing Jack Ketchum book into movie that I've seen. Of course, that's not saying much as his stuff is typically the only material that can still consistently really bother me. If you want to see some feral cannibals terrorize a farmhouse, this is the film for you.

If you decide to dive into Ketchum's material I'd definitely recommend see this before The Woman, as this leads into that one. Even better, I'd skip those until later and dive right into Red (his most accessible), The Girl Next Door (his best, or worst if you still have your soul and humanity) and then The Lost.

American Pie 2

Returning to the original American Pie brought me warm feelings of nostalgia. Returning to American Pie 2 merely managed to evoke warm feelings of nausea. At least it works very well as a metaphor on a meta level. The movie is about a group of kids who desperately want to hold on to their past while resisting moving on into adulthood and the next stage of their lives. Also, as a movie, it desperately wants to hold on to the past and resists moving on into adulthood or more mature material. I'm sure that was intentional. Perhaps the filmmakers are geniuses.

The Dallas Connection

Another round of Sidaris. Espionage, boobies and explosions- wash, rinse and repeat.

Cat Run

This was quite a bit of fun and a nice surprise. The main kid from Eurotrip and his buddy are fledgling private eyes chasing a beautiful stranger across Europe, going head to head with a really interesting elite assassin. I really had a good time with this.

Return to Savage Beach

Alas, I've now come to the end of my Sidaris movies. It has been a very fun journey. As always, whatever was lacking in quality was always made up for with copious explosions and breast implants.

The Danish Girl

This was a real irresistible force/immovable object kind of movie for me. The ugliest actor in Hollywood was on screen with one of the most attractive. Would I be repulsed or titillated? Turns out, for me, my disgust for Redmayne overpowered any attraction I have towards Vikander. I'm happy for advancements trans people have made but I did not enjoy this story. Einar/Lili came across as mostly just a selfish, crazy asshole to me.

Trumbo

Here is another story I had a hard time getting invested in because the title character seemed like such an asshole. I did appreciate this story in that it made me spend some time thinking about the US communist scare of the 40s. It helped me see that this country has lots of history of being run by lunatics. We survived that and we'll survive Trump (if it comes to that.)

The Theater Bizarre

This had some pretty messed up scenes. i didn't love or it or anything but I appreciated how disturbing it was in a few places.
