Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers

If you ever think the Friday or Nightmare movies fly off the rails and get really terrible (they do) you need to see what the Halloween franchise was up to to really put things in perspective. These movies are so, so bad and I’m pretty sure this is the worst one.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

This has the best cast of the franchise, by far. It has the best premise and it is also where Freddy turns a corner and starts getting silly with his kills, a move that ends up being his trademark.

The Lodger

This is a clumsy little thriller that throws in enough decent twists to stay intriguing but too much of the tension rings inauthentic for it to be truly gripping. Molina is solid but none of the rest of the cast seemed all that inspired. It made me a little sad to see Rachael Leigh Cook. Some 15-20 years ago she was my #1 favorite and I wish she could have successfully made the transition from kid actress to adult.

Halloween (2009)

I need to bump this up higher in my personal rankings. It is a damn near perfect slasher. The kills are very violent and gruesome, the nudity is generous, and Michael Myers is intimidating as hell. The music is done well and I approve of all the casting choices. It suffers from the ending meandering a little too much, but that seems to be a problem in all of Zombie’s films (with the exception of Devil’s Rejects.)

Halloween 2

There are some artistic things I can really get behind and enjoy. There are, unfortunately, too many things that are just unclear or confusing. I like part 1 so much that I really want to like this as well, but its just too much of a mess to really enjoy.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master

Its a shame they had to replace Patricia Arquette from Dream Warriors to reprise her role in part 4. I don’t blame her but its still too bad. I really like the gag where Freddy catches the kids in a time loop but that’s about all I like. I hate the way this franchise changes the rules for Freddy in every movie. The lack of consistency as a result of (IMO) lazy writing really hurts the storytelling. The dog who pisses fire onto Freddy’s bones, bringing him back to life is in the discussion for the stupidest things in the entire franchise.

Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2

Holy shit, this Laid to Rest franchise is really something else. I think the kills in these movies are more brutal and gory than any other series I can think of. The writers and effects team really go the extra mile when crafting and creating some truly horrific kills.

Sleepaway Camp

This movie is 95% campy horror fun and 5% the best ending ever. I’m not going to apologize for using a picture that spoils this for anyone who hasn’t seen it. This is 34 years old. What were you waiting for?

Dang, I haven't posted in this thread in almost a month. Seems like there's been a lack of nudity in all the movies I've been watching.

And then I do finally put up another round and you get 3 dicks, a dead girl and a dude with tits.
