HOST GAME - Round 8 - alan smithee **CLOSED**

#1 Post by alan smithee » 14 May 2003, 23:16

Each of the eleven images are from a different movie.

Each adjacent picture has exactly two actors in common. (By "actor", I always mean male or female.)

That means twenty actors. Guess what? You get one point for each actor you name (no points for naming the movies).

For each of the twenty questions, you get three guesses.

No movies are black and white (I just couldn't find a color still I liked from the fourth movie from the end).

Notes:
All 20 answers are different.

The images may or may not contain some of the answers.

Some actors may be in more than two of the movies (though, obviously, they will only be an answer once).

I've seen (and enjoyed) almost all of these movies, but I'll admit I've never heard of the first one. Hence my using the box cover with names instead of a still :)

You have a bit more than forty-eight hours: the answers are due Saturday (the 17th) by 2am PDT (10am UTC/GMT, 1am FilmWise time).

Great idea Mr. Smithee, but maybe nobody told you. I suck
Lionel Hutz, aka Miguel Sanchez, aka Dr. Nguyen van Thoc, was paid $8 for his 32 hours of babysitting.

He was glad to get it.

Wow. I scored zero on the round before but I think I'm doing OK at this. I got about 5 films on my first look through.

Ah, the mid-nineties queen of the indie flick; she's everywhere.

That would turn this into just a picture recognition game... However, since may have already started using it (though the PMs I've gotten would indicate otherwise from most of those people), it's only fair to say

USING THE IMDB IS OK

(This unfortunately basically disarms two of the sneaky (well, I thought they were sneaky) tricks I put in. Oh well.)

And my apologies to anyone who has been slaving over these without the IMDb until. (But nice work on the PMs I've gotten so far.)

Since I don't recognize any 2 adjacent movies, I think not using IMDB would have made it impossible for me.

Not purposeful payback, but, my how I understand your pain -- I'm pretty sure I spent more time listening to your Planet of the Apes clip than I did watching both versions of the actual movie! :o

I've responded to the 9 messages I've received; if you haven't received a response with scores, I didn't receive your PM.

Wow, I knew I sucked, but not this bad.

You think I am being dramatic? I know ZERO of these. The Nunis has hit rock bottom.

Yeah that's what I meant too... I know maybe 5 or 6 of the films, but no chance of guessing the connecting actors as all except two are non-adjacent.

You do have some chance ... you can always just guess an actor in the one film you do know. Odds are you'll hit a few, at least! Everyone's still got plenty of guesses left, so use 'em up!

Here's your semi-gratuitous 8-hours-left warning. (I'm leaving for several hours in about 45 minutes, so if you want some guesses confirmed, now's a good time ...)

So far, I only have answers from 11 of the 22 (22 because I'm not counting me) tournament players. (I also received correct answers from ironchefk). These 11 players are (so far) MIA:

Toto le Héros
McT
LttleTimmy
luke_os
Dappucino
Gren
A2
Nunis
Phil_Hart
Plaxii
Patsy Klubb

Hi everybody

#20 Post by ironchefk » 16 May 2003, 17:28

Hi everyone, this is my first post, just joined today. And the first game I looked at and answered the questions to was this one, without realizing until now that you need to sign up for this tourney (Oops, sorry  ). I was just wondering if it is too late to sign up. I understand I am at a major scoring disadvantage, since I missed the first 7 rounds, but I don't care about that. I also understand that I would need to create my own game for 1 round, all I would need is a little time to think of one and get it ready. If not, that is fine, I understand. Good luck everyone. :D
