This is a prediction and pick'em game with winner determined in early February, 2020 by the actual US Domestic Box Office Gross totals as determined by boxofficemojo.com

To play, PM your entry to me by Thursday, 1/24/19 11:59pm eastern time.

Step 1 - Pick one from each matchup in the 11 lines below (notice you could be picking two movies in the 10th and 11th matchups):

Star Wars: Episode IX vs. Avengers: Endgame
The Lion King vs. Captain Marvel
Dark Phoenix vs. Shazam!
Frozen 2 vs. Toy Story 4
Hobbs and Shaw vs. Terminator: Dark Fate
The Secret Life of Pets 2 vs. Aladdin
The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part vs. Men in Black: International
Dumbo vs. How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
Sonic the Hedgehog vs. Pokémon: Detective Pikachu
It: Chapter Two vs. the combined total of Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Pet Sematary
Joker vs. the combined total of Hellboy and The New Mutants

Step 2 - Pick 5 more 2019 releases (release date 1/25/19 to 12/27/19) that are NOT named in Steps 1 or 3

Step 3 - Tiebreaker: Domestic Box Office Gross of Spider-Man: Far From Home

We'll use boxofficemojo.com's Domestic Box Office Total for each movie at the end of January 2020, so we count the box office receipts in January 2020 until boxofficemojo.com puts up the receipts for the week that includes January 30, 2020 in it.

Winners:
Overall Winner - Person with highest total box office of their 16 movies
Pick'Em Champ - Person with most number of top choices for Step 1
Scout - Person with highest total box office of their 5 Step 2 movies
Marksman - Person whose Step 3 is closest to the actual gross

Ties in the first 3 categories will be broken by the tiebreaker (Step 3)

Remember, your Step 2 entries can't use any movie listed above. I'll post mine after the deadline, but before I open any PM's.

I'm sure Wonder Woman moving to 2020 changed the versus lineup a bit.

:green: probably would've been a good fit against Captain Marvel.

Also, I think Hellboy and the New Mutants is my new favorite band name.

After inputting the titles into 'Christopher' it's a quantum algorithm which is then fractally encrypted by Data. Then the images are bounced baaack through the Azores and down to knarf's TV in his limo.

:D

I do a little research to see which ones are predicted to be close, then I try to set up "fun" matches where I can - superhero vs superhero, monster vs monster, etc.

I suspected you were doing the work, but do not recall that being stated anywhere. WD, sir. always entertaining.

I'll compile everything later, but everyone picked:

Avengers: Endgame over Star Wars: Episode IX
Hobbs and Shaw over Terminator: Dark Fate
The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part over Men in Black: International
Pokémon: Detective Pikachu over Sonic the Hedgehog

So none of those will factor into the results.

I was the only one to take Captain Marvel over The Lion King, and the combined total of Hellboy and The New Mutants over Joker.

redamin was the only one to take Dark Phoenix over Shazam!

The rest were 5-2 or 4-3 splits.

I'm rooting for Captain Marvel, but I suspect the her film coming out so close to Avengers: Endgame will affect her gross.

Ridilon: John Wick 3, Jumanji 2, Kingsman 3, Zombieland 2, Shaft

figjam: John Wick 3, Jumanji 2, Kingsman 3, Zombieland 2, Minecraft
