Well... looks like I'm already out of the running for Step 2 with this morning's news that Gambit has been removed from Fox's list of 2016 releases... awesome...

Captain America: Civil War passed Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice this weekend, and is still earning millions per day vs. BvS's thousands per day.

The Jungle Book has already made about $300 million more than Zoolander 2, so The Legend of Tarzan will have a long way to go.

Captain America: Civil War wins over Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, currently leading by $76 million.

X-Men: Apocalypse leads Independence Day: Resurgence by $54 million and should win.

Zootopia leads The Secret Life of Pets (which is going strong) by $81 million - could be close.

Ghostbusters leads Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows by $5 million and is earning more so it should win.

Kung Fu Panda 3 leads Alice Through the Looking Glass by $67 million and should win.

The Jungle Book leads the combined total of Zoolander 2 and The Legend of Tarzan by $217 million and should win.

Domestic Total as of Jan. 3, 2017: $447,170,302

That favors me slightly, under by 22,170,302.
knarf is over by 31,486, 572

of course next weekend's totals could tip the odds in knarf's favor.

Out of curiosity, is this where you are looking for this:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=weekly&id=starwars2016.htm

If so, I assume the amount shown on the Summary section is more "live" and the weekly wouldn't be updated until 1/6 or 1/7.

Pretty much. Sometimes they list the summary total as "estimated", usually during/right after the weekend.

Current standings for the Marksman category.

Rogue One current box office: $461,355,354

Person Guess Difference
knarf $478,656,874 $17,301,520
Scruluce $425,000,000 $36,355,354
Ridilon $408,000,000 $53,355,354
redamin $370,000,000 $91,355,354
Dawson $213,565,256 $247,790,098
figjam $885,000,000 $423,644,646

figjam is the only one who has a chance of catching me, as everyone else's "difference" is increasing (as mine will start doing soon). $681,828,437 is the half way point between our guesses.

Looks like AC passed it. Main page for AC says $49,884,426 as of today vs Warcraft at $47,365,290

I think $681mm is safe. I'll close the gap, but that's too much to overcome in a couple of weeks.
