Though this movie wasn't all that great (IMO) his career really changed after this film, from zany guy to more that of serious actor and taking on better roles.

Right you are plaxii. I get so much shit for loving this movie. I think I even remember Hanks dissing once. That hurt. Though I think he was just referring the the box-office floppiness of it. At least I hope he was.
