I've added a little feature which may come in handy. On the left, under your location and post count, you can now see two links: to view all of a user's posts, or to view all of a user's posts in the current topic only.

Looks like we can also upload avatars from our computer instead of using links. Saves time, too. Wd.

Nice...

I know we're supposed to move on. But it makes me think of the future moment when it'll be said "do we really ned to search for Toto's posts ?"

Other than that, the forums look great your Highness.

Does a PM really have to include the message body of the the post you've clicked the PM button on?

Also, the search option isn't working very well. Have you finished tweaking it, or are you not done yet?

It doesn't. Does anyone find it useful? If not, I'm sure I can tweak the code to remove that.

I have not finished with it. Sorry it's not working well yet.

I find it useful (and I just click in the text window (as I would anyway to type) and Ctrl-A Backspace if I don't want it). I won't be too disheartened if it goes away because it's pissing people off, though.

Found out why. For performance reasons, it doesn't do that for people who have over 5k posts. But there's a way around it. I'll try to solve it. If it's not too slow, we can certainly keep that feature if I can get it working. If for no other reason than I'm curious to see how many of JJ's posts are in Open Ended.

wow. I haven't posted in that thread in ages.

My most posted topic is Key-items. It must have been a year at least since I last posted there...

If the person you are PMing is on your friends list, it is easier to add them from there. That way if you are PMing somebody about their post you don't have to block and copy. It used to be easier to PM someone from one of their posts because of the searching thing. That doesn't make any sense at all does it?

I took a quick look at the new forums over the weekend, and hope to be able to spend some more time on them this week, but I really like what I see so far.

Awesome as always, Nunis!

More changes

Guys, I've implemented a bunch of stuff I think will enhance the overall experience of using the forums. I've outlined them below. It goes without saying, if any of these do not work / are abused / annoy people -- they can be removed.

Quick reply - If you don't want to open the "Post a reply" page, you can click "Quick reply" at the bottom of any topic. The Quick reply box will open and allow you to enter your post. It's a minified version of the posting form without buttons and other fancy stuff. You can still enter any code in there though.

View your own topics - In the top right-hand corner, next to the "View new posts" and "View your posts" links, there is now also a link for "View your topics" which lets you see all threads you've started.

View unread posts/PMs - Similarly, next to those links there is now a link to view all unread posts (this is different from "new posts" which displays any topics posted in since your last visit. If you have no unread posts, the link will say as much.

Previous PMs from user in PM view - Open a PM, look for where it says who it's from. Next to their name there should be a link that reads "(Previous PM's from this user)". Click this to see all PMs you've received from this person.

External link behaviour - All external links now open in a new window, and are red when you hover over them to distinguish them from internal links.

Avatars on Memberlist - If you go to the Memberlist, you can see avatar thumnbails. Hover over them to see the avatar full-size. Click on it to go to that user's profile.

Group announcements, stickies, and regular topics - Announcements and Stickies are now grouped together, so as to stand out more, and appear above regular topics in the forum view.

Search user posts in topic - Next to people's post count you will see links for "[View: All / This topic]". Clicking "All" lets you see all the posts that person has made. Clicking "This topic" lets you see all posts made by that person in the current topic.

Show activity over last 24 hours - On the front page, there is now some information on activity on the forums in the last 24 hours. There is a box which lists the number of new posts, topics, and users. And there's also a list of everyone who logged in over the last 24 hours in the "Who's online" box.

Upcoming birthdays - Any birthdays coming up in the next 7 days will be displayed on the front page (if there are any)

Which topic is someone viewing? - Speaking of the
Who's online
page, if you go there you will now see avatars, and you can also see which specific thread (and not just forum) someone is currently reading.

Default avatar - If a user has no avatar, this one will be displayed.
Image

Avatar shown in Friend list - If you go to your
User Control Panel
, you will now see avatars shown in the Friends/Foes list.

Redirect after posting - After posting, you will be immediately redirected to your newly made post.

Print whole topic - Each topic now has a "Print view entire topic" option, in addition to the regular "Print view" (which only let you print the posts currently being displayed.

Mark post as unread - Mark any post as unread and come back to it later. When a post is marked as unread, it will show up in your "Unread posts" list.

Cap on font size - Font size can now be between 50 and 200. 50 is the size for Tiny, and 200 is the size for Huge. If you try to post anything smaller than Tiny or larger than Huge, you will get an error message.

Quick add friend/foe - You can now add anyone as a friend or foe from any post. Just look at the person's details on the left and you'll see little icons for doing this.

Enchanced email notifications - Email notifications now include more information, such as topic title (if it's a topic notification), sender and subject (if it's a PM), and content of the post/PM.

I've also done some minor changes, and stuff that only us admins will find useful, such as install a FAQ manager in the admin panel (the FAQ will be updated and modified shortly), a Rules plugin (currently you can't see this, and it contains no rules yet). I've also changed the date format for "Date joined" to exclude the time of day.

I hope you'll find some of these features useful.

Well done, Nunis.

I like the new look and features. It even has that "new board" smell.
