Nunis, can we institute a delay between registration and activation? That might help a lot since most spammers probably don't want to have to keep track of what forums they're waiting on.

I'm not sure what you mean, bing. Please explain.

Also Batman, very funny. I did speak to Nipples about this though, it's not like I'm just making demands and running the place (or is it...?).

Also, fwiw, we might be starting an activation process, whereby all new members must have their account activated by an admin before posting. Should keep out some more spammers.

Like when you register an account, it's usually activated and you can start posting immediately, right? If there was like a week before when you register and when you start posting, maybe it would help stop the hit-and-run guys. Admin approval would do the trick, but it seems like a ton of work for you guys.

What was really funny was that I only had to change two letters to get "Nunis" from "Nazis".

Wow. I just thought about that. Take away Arizona, add the UN, and the Nazis have turned into Nunis. I'm sure if I stop taking this Lithium I'll be able to figure out exactly what that all means.
Robin: "Gosh, Batman, is there anything you don't know?"
Batman: "Oh yes, Robin. Several things, in fact."

But we don't want to prevent honest posters (unless we can install some sort of 'annoying' filter). I would think having to wait a week (or anytime) to post something would be a major pain in the ass.

He was glad to get it.

A week? Jeez, bing, you can get a handgun quicker.

It's a good idea in theory bing, but believe it or not, some people register and want to start posting immediately. I'm gonna try the verification thing, and if I get swamped I will figure out another way.

Right, that didn't work. I do get an email asking if I want to authorise so-and-so, but their account still gets registered (only they can't post). So that sucked. Back to the drawing board.

Is there a way we can rip off the coding IMDB uses to reveal spoilers?

Here's an example: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083972/faq

Not at the moment, no. But the upgrades I'm looking into has a feature a little bit like it. Now if only Nipples would reply to any of my emails, I could actually implement these things I've had in the pipeline since last summer.

I'm currently doing some admin stuff. If the forums look weird for some reason, don't worry -- they'll soon be back to normal.

Thanks smithee, I knew it was probably gonna be some time before December. Once it's out, I will talk to Nipples about doing the upgrade, and the forums will probably be down then for a day or so. I'll try to time it for the least possible downtime, and I will of course let everyone know when that will be.
