I like it.

It's creepy as hell... and sometimes pretty gory... the actress that plays his sister is a bit annoying... but I like it alot so far.

Sometimes with other shows the internal monolouge gets annoying fast... but thats where most of the best stuff is... insights into the way his mind really works... and how he really feels but can't say...

This mutual admiration they have going on with another serial killer that he's tracking... is just something you've never seen before... like I said... it's creepy as hell... but also very interesting.

I thought Dexter was very lame. Sure, it's a twist on something familiar; I guess I'm just not a big fan of said twist. Not to mention that most of the actors just make me want to hurl.

The only reason I keep watching is I hope Dexter will join the Miami CSIs, find out David Caruso has killed the show, and dispense his own special kind of justice on Caruso.

Now that's a show I can get behind!

Freaking Caruso... CSI: Miami's gotten worse every episode this year... I can't see how they can top this weeks episode though... goddamn that was trash.

I've started watching Dexter, and I really like it. Ok, the sister is a bit annoying but Michael C. Hall over shadows her redundant role.

I was hoping this would be a new twist on the crime genre, and it is, but it's also kind of lame. Acting is mostly crap, except the main guy who's charismatic enough. I'll give it another few weeks.

I have just started watching these (Image) and at first, I was put off by the terrible acting by everyone besides Dexter (MCH) and the strange staging of the scenes... but then I started to notice something about the show after getting through three episodes.

It seems like in every scene with Dex, his dialogue is good, his voice-over is well done - both as exposition and explanation - and his acting is great. The supporting cast (the sister, the lieutenant, the two detectives), on the other hand, seem to be terrible actors, with all of their individual scenes coming across as poorly set-up, blocky, wooden. The flashbacks, with James Remar and the young Dex, are just the opposite, well acted and realistic, the feeling much more ... human. I think that this is intentional. This makes it easier for us to 'relate' to this soulless killer. Even with the subplots involving the other characters, you really dont care, and this makes you more able to sympathize with Dex. I have found myself almost cringing at the performances by the others, but never feel that about MCH, nor the people playing his victims, or their stories.

Will this style get old, and detract from the very intriguing story, so much so that I lose interest in the rest of the story, and stop watching? I don't see it happening for me. I enjoy MCH, and as The Nunis has stated above, it is a [great] twist on the serial-killer/crime-solver concept.

So....

Of course, I could be wrong, and these people can't act, and they will eventually bring about the demise of what should/could have been an excellent program.

Dexter got a second season... so it's doing well...

I do still like it.. and I am hoping that the Doc that makes the prostectics in the real Ice Truck Killer and he kills Dex's sister... God that would be a perfect storm of greatness.

It would be perfect, if he doesn't stop there and offs her partner as well.

I really liked the end of the first season of Dexter, even though I had a feeling it was going that way. I'm looking forward to the next season.

I also wasn't aware it was based on a book.

Yep. This season was based on Darkly Dreaming Dexter and I guess the next one will be based on Dearly Devoted Dexter.

Thanks to snotty for pushing me to give Dexter another chance. I enjoyed it, even though some of the acting is still terrible.

Also, regarding Day Break, I was upset. Yeah, they're gonna be on ABC, but you can only view them from within the US. If anyone has any other means of getting them, let me know.

I can't agree with you more, even though the sister did have some good scenes from time to time. The last scene, while being hilarious, was way out of Dexter's character. Through out the season he's unable to feel anything , but suddenly he longs to become the hero? Meh.

You need a torrent client, then you can find the torrents here (best site for TV downloads, in my opinion).

Great episode on Dexter. My guess, he'll somehow put the blame on Lila.

It's one of my favourite shows. The good news is there'll probably be a third season.

I wondered if Lundy would narrow down his suspects by checking how many cops have boats in that one harbor and maybe even figure out Dexter is the butcher but then Doak's illegal search of Dexter's house makes all the evidence inadmissible.

I agree. This show really is superb lately.

:green: I loved that. I also feel like she should probably leave Majestic (f.k.a. Agrestic), but I would really miss Doug and the other crazies.
