I'm hoping that future years can stop sending the team to postseason and just give us the "Notre Dame Bowl", in which the 5-6 Fighting Irish can play against their own egos in front of a half-empty crowd.

It will be televised on ABC, of course.

Ever the pessimist, JJ. I see the crowd as half full.

No. 3 Gators swamp Spurrier's Gamecocks 56-6

The only drawback to this score is the ability for sportwriter's to proclaim, "Gators down Cocks."

Now only The Citadel ( ) for Homecoming and Florida State in Tallahassee before Alabama in the SEC Championship. The Gators control their own destiny.

No. 3 Florida swamps Opponent, 70-19

Yeah, I changed the headline to make it a little more interesting.

It was nice of the schedule-makers to give Florida a bye this late in the season.

Whoo Hoo! Big 12 Championship! OU-Missouri. Texas beat both of these teams! Well Done, Big 12 tie-breakers. I can't wait for Oklahoma to go to the national championship game and fall flat on their asses, as usual. (No offense A²)

How much do you want to bet that next year the Big 12 tiebreakers change to look like the SEC's. In the SEC they look at the top two ranked team's head to head game.

This reminds me of my senior year in high school. My team, the Midland Bulldogs finished 9-1 (5-1 in district), the cross town rivals Midland Lee went 7-2 (5-1 in district) and the Permian Panthers (From Odessa, 20 miles away) went 6-3 (5-1 in district) and so we ended up with the dreaded 3 way tie. We beat Lee, who beat Permian, who beat us. It came down to a coin flip. Lee and Permian, perrenial powerhouses advanced and we who have not been in the playoffs since 1951 went home. The coin flip was the second tiebreaker. All other tiebreakers would have sent us to the playoffs. That is my biggest regret from High School. Not being able to see how far we could have gone. Since then the rules have changed and three teams go instead of two. Sucks to be me I guess. Oh by the way, to pull it into movie perspective since this is a movie board. Friday Night Lights was written about that season's Permian team.

I knew Permian Panthers sounded familiar. Sorry, dawgs.

Now I root for Boston College, but I gotta ask -- is there anything more useless than the ACC title game? Why bother, fellas? Adding insult is the idea that the winner is contractually obligated to take a BCS spot away from a clearly more deserving school. I wonder if this is how Notre Dame feels...all the time.

As someone who hates Texas and virtually everything that gigantic shit of a state has to offer I have been filled with endless enjoyment over this. I have been visiting other football message boards just to read more of the whining and crying by all the Longhorn pussies. There's no question that Texas and Tech both got screwed but with all three teams only having one loss there's no way to make it fair for everyone. No matter which team got the nod the other two would have reason for complaint. OU's non-conference schedule was the best of the three with their wins over Cincinatti and TCU and that was enough to put them over the top.
The :) means it's all ok.

Necessity is the mother of invention. Clearly, what was called for here is a three team mid-week steel cage death match on a Y-shaped field. Surviving team earns the right to dryhump Mizzou.

Since OU is predisposed to break my heart, Texas and Texas Tech fans likely need only wait a few more days until OU chokes against Missouri and opens the national championship spot up for them.

I'm thinking things are looking positive. Harvin's ankle will be healed by then and even though it's Miami, I'm thinking the Gators will have "home field" advantage.
