I think the main point of this list isn't necessary true worst songs but the songs that annoyed the greatest number of people. All were overplayed to the extreme.

As for Barbie Girl, you guys should have been teenagers in Sweden at the time. I must have heard that song thrice a day for a year when it came out. It's so monumentally stupid it defies explanation.

...and all over California. It still shows up in clubs now and again for that same generation to dance to.
