Actually... crisis may be averted...

I noticed in Format Factory, there was an All Files option, and they appear to be formatting right now.

I'm off to bed... Hopefully I'll have The Graveyard Book in iPod format when I wake up
If you wake up at a different time in a different place could you wake up as a different person?

"File" just means it has no extension. That won't do. Have you tried appending a file extension, such as, oh I dunno... avi? mpg? mov? swf?

I know very little of this Firefox extension, as you can tell.

That I shall try tomorrow if (when) my Format Factory attempt fails...

Yeah the file that it downloads are weird extensions. Once I get videos downloaded, I then use anyvideoconverter (free). http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/ Very simple program to use. What is strange is when I go to choose the video files I want to convert, nothing shows up in the folder until I use the drop down menu "type" and choose all files. I set the output format as mp4 which then load to my nano fine. If you have any problems with it just let me know. I'm not at home right now so i can't look and see what exactly the extensions are on my originals.

That's exactly what happened for me. The add-on downloads as "FILE"s which can't be played at all. I did have to go back and resave one of the videos (downloaded the wrong one) so I added .avi to the file name, and that worked too.

So for most of the videos I had to convert using the drop down menu, choosing All Files, but the one video showed up as a recognizable format. Both ways work just fine (and now I have The Graveyard Book on my iPod. I know what I'm listening to on the drive to Philly today :-)

I have a bunch of movies and TV shows on my iPod that I promptly deleted from my computer once I transferred them. Does anyone know how to get them back off of my iPod?

Here is an interesting article that explains methods in depth.
Robin: "Gosh, Batman, is there anything you don't know?"
Batman: "Oh yes, Robin. Several things, in fact."

Is Handbrake still the converter of choice for DVD -> iPod on Mac?
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

I've always been fine with the presets. 'Apple Universal' works with any Apple device but the files tend to be large. Go with the iPod/iPhone preset if you're tight for space.
