Awful Moments in Backup Singer History

#1 Post by JJ » 13 Mar 2009, 14:39

There have been thousands of these; it's time to document 'em. Lead singers are the voice of the band for a reason.

The most obvious one that comes to mind comes courteous of Tesla, in the song Rock Me:

Tesla leadman Jeff Keith wrote:You gotta see him, are you ready, to take me in and rock me steady
Feel the power, feel the heat, put yourself in the driver's seat

You're in the air, I feel you surround me
I'll do anything that you wanna do - come on!

Rock me, rock me

Tesla wingman, using some sort of bizarre dino-voice wrote:Rock!

Keith wrote:Rock me to the top, to the top, baby
Rock me, rock me

Wingman wrote:Rock!

Keith wrote:Don't ever stop, no...

I'll take command, take control, now I see you comin' back for more
I see you like it, but you don't need it, oooh, you wanna feel it

I'm in the air, feel me surround me
I'll do anything that I want you to - come on!

etc.

Discuss, especially the Sopranos guy at the end of Glory Days.
La la la la la.

 I'm happy this phenomenon has not been confined to rock music.

Oh, and I just found the Tesla. It's live, which may make it even better (worse):

But he did have one hell of a 'stache

The backup vocals on "Crosstown Traffic" are awesome.
History shows again and again how nature points up the folly of man
