I used to have about 500+. But I have spent the last month copying them all to my media centre PC. I used to keep all the DVD's in a cupboard, but things would get put in front of them, so I would only end up watching things in the A to C range. I now use My Movies to keep them all sorted on my PC. There is also an iPhone app, which is handy because I can check if I already have a DVD before I buy it (I have bought the same film twice on several occasions).

Just curious, how much storage do you have and can you get all your movies saved to it? Can you save BluRays to it?

Whew, I almost typed "How big is your hard drive?" (fnar fnar) and almost ended up in the TWSS thread.

I know your way is correct but I'm pretty sure I would have filed Das Boot in the Ds.

I think the best solution for sorting things is put things where you'd look for them, especially if most of the searching will be done only by you.

I have two 1TB external hard drives, but most of my movies were on SD DVD (less than 1Gb). But the newer ones are in 1080p (7-16Gb per film).

:green: I just checked, I have my copy of Das Boot filed under D. It must have been a concious choice since I know a little German.

Just indexed and copied all of my movies to iTunes for my Apple TV. I currently have 572 movies.

How much space does that take in iTunes?

I save all my itunes stuff to a 4TB external drive. I haven't cheecked recently but when I was at 500 movies (and a few thousand songs), it took up a little less than 600GB, I still had 3.4TB free. Most (about 95% are standard def with the rest being Blu-ray)
