the last time i saw buddy hackett, the late late show with craig kilborn would have him on to tell these funny stories every week...

they were all sex stories and he would curse sometimes...it was really entertaining...

Growing up I only knew Buddy Hackett from the Fudgesicle ads. He was just this funny little guy hanging with kids. Probably in 9th grade I first saw his standup act. I couldn't beleive the things coming out of his mouth, quite a change in image for me. He was hilarious!

I have not seen any of his standup acts, but I can only imagine how funny they were. I always enjoyed him in films like The Music Man and It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World; I'll have to look into renting some tapes of his (if there are any). This is truly sad.....

as a side note: please name the person on the title of the thread. I'm always afraid to click to see who it was...

The very-short-lived TV series Action a few years ago is still one of my faves. Buddy played the always-asleep-on-the-job head of security at a movie studio ...

I saw him on the Last Comic Standing a couple weeks ago. I'd have liked to see some of his standup, but I guess it's too late for that. Always sad when we lose these people.

Me neither....really sad considering that he was only 57. What a talented guy he was (I even watched his short lived tv series). White Nights and The Cotton Club were also great films he had

I've stopped being surprised. It's a lucky day when a celebrity DOESN'T die, it seems.

You might not know this French actor, but Michel Constantin died at 79 last Friday. He had begun in Le Trou (The Hole), Jacques Becker's last film, a now classic film about an attempted escape from jail.
He was also directed by Robert Enrico (Les Grandes Gueules), Alain Cavalier (Mise à sac), Jean-Pïerre Melville (Le Deuxième souffle), José Giovanni (Dernier domicile connu), Georges Lautner (La Valise, Il était une fois un flic)... He wasn't as reknowned as Bronson, of course, but was a familiar face from the 60s and the 70, very often in crime/gangsters movies... Oddly, Bronson and him had played together in a (bad) movie : Cold Sweat / De la part des copains.

IMO, the best movie I saw with him was Ne nous fâchons pas.
I really liked Le deuxième souffle too.
