Random thing that freaked you out

If there's a useless thread in here, chances are excellent that JJ created it.

did you kill it or did it disappear? I hate spiders but can't kill them. The last time I tried, I missed, and 20 minutes later saw an even bigger one.

I'd move into a hotel for a few days if I saw that!
oh it is very dead. 3rd spider to surface this week. both others were black widows.
Elmo: Them's Black Widows.
Frank: Did you know that more people die from black widows than rattlers every year?
Orville Boggs: Is that right?
Frank: Yeah, that's right.
Orville Boggs: Well, listen, I sure do appreciate knowing that because most of the people I know just - puh - step on them and squish them

Ok, I don't think I'll be coming into this thread for a while, not until we're several pages past these photos. (full body shudder)

That fire in Colorado is insane. Are any FWers in the path?

We get smoke down here from time to time... and we can see them in the mountains... but no... I am smart enough (or is it poor enough?) To not have a fancy house in the moutains in the middle of forrest fire central. It's kinda like building your house in a flood plain... what do you expect?
You are probably asking about the Colorado Springs one? That one is far south of me. The one that I get smoke from is the High Park fire which is closer to Ft. Collins. We even had one in Boulder yesterday, but they got that one under control quickly.

Surgeon General's Warning: Smoke contains benzol, formaldehyde, hydrogen-cyanide and nitrosamine.

If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing

I was driving my friend to Yosemite last night, and all these birds kept flying up from the road and barely missing the car. One of the larger birds wasn't as fortunate, flying squarely into the grill and rolling over the car. Feathers went everywhere! Batman's gonna be pissed at me, I killed (a) Robin!

My 84 year old father, who can't even manage his email half the time and who is a sucker for every scam to come down the pike, having become impatient and unhappy with his fully qualified realtor, has listed his house on Craig's List.
Oh yeah, nothing could go wrong here.

It's either this thread or random thing that made you feel old:

Someone I knew from preschool is engaged to be married. And she's just barely 20.

Dude, you're much too young to feel this damn old.
