Palindrome post tsop emordnilap

If there's a useless thread in here, chances are excellent that JJ created it.

As if there wasn't enough crap...

Post here when you are posting a palindromic post #.

Shouldn't the title of the thread be a palindrome?

ok

Now, for anyone naysaying this in his or her mind as a complete spam thread, it really isn't...in the long run.

A poster below 100 posts will only have the opportunity to post here every 11 posts.

From 100 to 1000, a poster will get to post every 10 posts.

After that, you're looking at posting every 110 posts.

That's why I say that in the long run, it isn't too spammy. If people still feel that it is, I'm ok with locking/deleting this.

I think that the point of this was slightly missed.
TK421 wrote:Post here when you are posting a palindromic post #.
By that I meant that one would post here when the number of that post would be a palindrome. For example, plaxii's next opportunity would be when the post count is 4334. Then, you'd just post that. I've got no problems with posting some random palindromes, either. I just wanted to make sure that the purpose of the "game" is clear. (It isn't really a game, so much. That's why I put it into the Open Ended forum.)

I can take a little ribbing, but I also like to dish it out. I was being a jerk but I figured you were tough enough to take it. Sorry. I really didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I didn't say anything when you submitted a wager in Euros.

Edit: Oh, that was post # 979

1-9: 9
10-99: 9
100-999: 90
1000-9999: 90
10000-99999: 900

In general, you have 9*10^i palindromes for the j-digit numbers, where i = (j-1)/2 rounded down.

To see why, note that for even-length numbers, you can choose the first half of the digits freely (though the first must be 1-9), and then the last half are forced. That's 9*10*10*...*10 (e.g., for 4-digit numbers, you have 9 choices for the first digit and 10 for the second, while you have only one choice for the each of the last two digits (they must each match a digit already chosen). For odd-length numbers, it's similar.
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.
