Daft Punk... excellent choice. First soundtrack I may buy in quite a long time.

DP = :green:
soundtrack website = :red:

The DP "poster" is nice, but the rest barely even qualifies as fluff.

In order to hear any real sample of the soundtrack I had to visit the UK version of the site.

The keyboard at the bottom asks for your name email, but falls well short of telling you what it is for.

The cover art isn't worthy of the callout, since you use it for the splash page anyway.

It would be nice to get some additional samples of the soundtrack from the main site, as well as some text talking about how excited DP was to be able to work with the creative talent at Disney to merge their unique visions into a digital wonderland, yadda yadda yadda.

Still, very much looking forward to hearing more from this.

ETA: I went back to the main site and I see that if I stay on the splash page the sample plays for quite a while, so that's great, but I think most people will click into the site long before that plays out.

So what do you guys think of the newest trailer? Tron Tuesdays are always bringing in new assets for the film.

PS: Have any of you seen these new posters? http://teaser-trailer.com/2010/11/tron- ... sters.html

"new"

Recycled images assembled in different compositions - several of which look much more like video game box covers than movie posters.

The "character" posters available via the link at the bottom work much better as movie posters.

Well good news! Fans of the original who were skeptical of Tron: Legacy have been posting favorable reviews! You can check one out here:

It had some exciting moments. I won't watch it again until blu-ray though. crossing my fingers that this is released as a double feature with the original.

Tron: Legacy (2010) - :2stars:. The special effects looked great. I heard a reviewer saying he thought Clu's mouth looked weird and that he found it distracting, but I totally disagree. I thought the use of the young Jeff Bridges worked out really well.

The 3D was unnecessary. I suppose it gave the film a little bit more depth, but I'd just as soon not have to wear those glasses.

In a lot of ways, the story mirrors the first one - disc fighting, light cycles, solar sailer/freight train - but even the inclusion of a couple of new twists to the plot didn't really get me that interested.

Overall, Tron: Legacy is very similar to the original. It's kind of a dull film that will be best remembered for it's contribution to special effects.

Agree with Batman, but 2 additions:

1: Why did they just try to make Jeff Bridges 'The Dude' again, it's a tron sequel, not Big Lebowski... and no matter how hot Olivia Wilde is, she tried too hard here

To be fair, I don't think he was really The Dude.
Spoiler
I think he spent so long in The Grid, he just had to learn patience. That coupled with the spontaneous appearance of the ISOs made him question his role as creator.

Thanks for getting back to me. Any feedback is good feedback. How do you think Garret Hedlund did as Sam Flynn? He is definitely beginning to make his mark on the big screen. Do you think his role in Tron helped prove that he's got potential?

Not really, but to be fair look at what he was up against: Jeff Bridges and really good special effects. To tell the truth, both the younger and older versions of Jeff Bridges dominated any scenes they were in. Also, the gal that played the ISO was pretty good.

I don't think Hedlund was bad or anything, but he didn't really make much of an impression. If I was going to compare his role in Tron: Legacy to something similar, it would be to Sam Worthington in Avatar. Even when Worthington was a big, blue CGI dude you felt more in touch with his character. Heck, I even remembered his name. If you hadn't mentioned Hedlund's role, I would have had to go to IMDb to figure out who you were talking about.

More than one or two of these stances is guaranteed to remind me of the movie pictured:

The direct comparison between the following two images doesn't hold up quite as well as I thought, but oh well:

Even though Tron: Legacy kept reminding me of other films, I actually really enjoyed it. It was fluff, but I don't think it was trying to be more than a bright, shiny popcorn movie with great effects. And at least they clearly had a computer consultant for this movie (as opposed to the previous one — a concern to few, I'm sure, but it was laughable in the original, which I only recently watched for the first time). (A quick glance at the UNIX commands when the CEO wanted the doggie movie killed actually looked sensible.)
