So, have the baddies already been picked?
Den of Geek says:

The villains Tony Stark will be facing in Iron Man 2 are moving into place...

Jon Favreau is no doubt currently hard at work preparing for the shoot for the second Iron Man film, which goes before the cameras in the Spring. And as such, his cast is also starting to fall into place.

We already know that Terrence Howard is out and Don Cheadle is in. And we already know that the likes of Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow are returning for the sequel. What’s now becoming clear is who will be playing the villains in the film, with Sam Rockwell and man-of-the-moment Mickey Rourke – who has also reportedly signed up to be in Stallone’s Expendables movie – in negotiations to climb on board.

According to reports, Rockwell is being lined up to play Justin Hammer, a megarich business tycoon and rival of Tony Stark. Meanwhile, Rourke is down to play a Russian, who will become Whiplash.

Expect both to be confirmed shortly, especially as both The Hollywood Reporter and Variety are now reporting the story. And expect the final casting announcements for the film to follow shortly…

I like rockwell, obvious choice, but Mickey Rourke, bit too flavour of the month for me, but he can pull it off. Aside from Howard being gone, I'm looking forward to this one.

The shot makes it look like he's acquired handle bars -- that seems awfully optimisitic of him.

I'm not sure if they ever had a chance at a decent costume:

My first reaction was much like bing's, but then I read the article and do agree with their point that the costuming could be the result of fairly interesting character backstory. Hopefully.

It's not a purse, it's a man bag.

It's European!

Speaking of pean, does he have to take the whole thing off to go or is there a trapdoor?

Where does "utility belt" figure into this equation?

And it's so passé to match the handbag to the shoes exactly. Where does he think he's going, the prom?

Utility belts are like holsters - very manly. I bet that nancy-boy doesn't even carry shark repellent.

I'm guessing he has to take the whole thing off since he probably sits when he pees.

Obviously, any gay man that put together about color coordination would know that ponytails are a no-no.

Wearing the customised leather of a man so rich he could put his stamp on the cow before it has even left the womb, Tony Stark is back in this brand new Iron Man 2 still, and it looks like he might be ready to tear the place up even more than before.

The shot, which shows Stark - played by Robert Downey Jr. for those who have been encased in metal suits for the last few years - doing his best intense face, having got himself into a bit of a scrape, judging by the annihilated, flaming race track left behind him.

Another set of film stills give us a first look at Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff (or the Black Widow as she is fondly known) doing a little bit of reconnaissance work in what looks to be Stark's office.

Iron Man 2 reunites RDJ and Gwyneth Paltrow, who returns as Pepper Potts, as well as introducing the new Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes - Mr Don Cheadle. As well as Johansson, other new co-stars for this instalment include Mickey Rourke as metal-clad Russian villain Ivan Vanko (a.k.a. Whiplash), Moon man Sam Rockwell as Justin 'Not-To-Be-Confused-With-MC' Hammer and Kate Mara of Shooter 'fame' as Bethany Cabe.

Iron Man 2, once again directed by Jon Favreau, is due in cinemas May 7 2010.

Looks like the Mickey Rourke picture could be the initial version, and he may add on some armor later on.

Her work as Silken Floss in The Spirit does not inspire confidence here.
