Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - redux - spoilers from the off

#1 Post by Dawson » 10 Aug 2010, 05:30

Any news for the Fincher remake can go here:

What we know so far:

Daniel Craig is playing Mikael Blomkvist.

Every actress in the world is being linked with Lisbeth, the latest being.. Emma Watson??

So here are the main candidates from what I can tell, what you need to picture, is could you see them with Craig?):

11/4: Natalie Portman - (would never do nudity)
4/1: Emma Watson - (With Daniel Craig.. not a chance)
6/1: Lea Seydoux
8/1: Kristen Stewart (no way)
8/1: Katie Jarvis
10/1: Ellen Page
10/1: Sarah Snook
12/1: Rooney Mara
14/1: Evan Rachel Wood
14/1: Carey Mulligan
16/1: Emily Browning
20/1: Mia Wasikowska
20/1: Keira Knightley
25/1: Anne Hathaway
25/1: Eva Green
25/1: Olivia Thirlby
33/1: Franka Potente
40/1: Michelle Ryan
40/1: Scarlett Johansson
50/1: Noomi Rapace

My faves for the part:

Katie Jarvis (from Fish Tank fame)

and the hotly tipped one is Lea Seydoux

and my outsider who has not even been mantioned yet... Jena Malone:
I'd be happy to kill her, she called me a fish.

Jena Malone, I like that call.
However, Noomi Rapace did an outstanding job.

and the winner is...

Rooney Mara

I'm not a fan of her, but I'd love to marry her and get a piece of her grandpa's fortune

What makes you say Portman wouldn't do nudity?

Emma Watson would be a disaster. Interested to see what Carey Mulligan would do with this part. FWIW, I like your three choices.

Portman has a clause in all contracts for non nudity, anyways it's too late, it's all been picked... oh well

Saw the trailer. If it doesn't lie, this will be one of those rare remakes that's way better than the original.

Yes, that was a bad line. Fire the copy writer, I say. But the trailer itself looked promisingly dark. And the Lisbeth character is played by an even less conventionally good-looking actor than in the original. Which appeals to me. Though Daniel Craig doing 'acting with glasses 101' (he takes them off to indicate that suddenly he has seen something in the metaphorical or transcendental sense) is not that promising.

Is Trent Reznor doing the music again (implied in the trailer by the NIN cover of Zep)? I thought he did an excellent, dark score for The Social Network, and could really contribute to TGwtDT:R

Trailer looks awesome. I feel like Mara's Lisbeth is not nearly as attractive as Rapace's. Maybe that's just me and my dibs talking.

Never read the book, never saw the first one but I am really looking forward to this just based on the theatrical trailer I saw before Moneyball. I'm thinking that that this is one of those movies that needs to be seen in a theater to truly capture the feeling and mood. I wasn't too intrigued by the trailers I saw on TV/online but after seeing it in a theater it's definitely on my list to see.
