Not bad, but he may also be too old now. Reading some threads, the suggestion I've liked best was Anton Yelchin. For a different take, how about Tom Hardy?

Tom Hardy camping it up could be awesome. Anton is too young, hed be a great competitor...

Cilian Murphy was great in Breakfast on Pluto?

Also, anyone else heard Woody Harrelson for Haymitch?

one more for you:

Wes Bentley as Seneka... I always pictured someone a lot older, I was really hoping for John Noble, Geoffrey Rush, someone like that

Is this gonna be some kind of tween crap?

Woody Harrelson is in as Haymitch.

I think I like it? Or at least, I can picture it working.

i'm concerned that Harrelson will make the character into too much of a caricature.

But if he can rein it in, itcould work very well.

Toby Jones in as announcer Claudius Templesmith.

More intriguingly, Lenny Kravitz as Cinna. Something I would never have thought of, again, but I can kind of see it working. Can he act though?

Like the poster. Not wild about the release date. Were this an anticipated blockbuster, it would aim for July. Then again, 2010 had a March with both a blockbuster (Alice) and a true gem (How to Train Your Dragon). PleasenoPercyJackson.PleasenoPercyJackson.PleasenoPercyJackson.

The Hunger Games

Director: Gary Ross
Writers: Gary Ross, Suzanne Collins
Cast: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Wes Bentley, Toby Jones
Plot: In a not-too-distant future, North America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcast throughout Panem. As the 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss' young sister, Prim, is selected as the mining district's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart Peeta, will be pitted against bigger, stronger representatives who have trained for this their whole lives.

I've already posted my thoughts on this (namely, I sat through 2 hours of the VMAs for that?), but yeah, it's good, but just not enough. I want to see Haymitch! And Effie! And Cinna! Not woods, flaming though they may be. Really, I think the fug girls summed it up best: So, not much is being revealed — you don’t SEE Gale, you don’t hear Katniss, you just notice that the trees are doing a very good job acting like EVIL TREES.
There's so much more I want! Which I guess means at least they're doing a good job of building anticipation.

Just finished the first book... like... 2 minutes ago.
I enjoyed it... definatly enough to read the rest.
My only criticism was that I wish it wasn't young adult so that they could have better illustrated the brutality. Not because i'm excessivly blood thirsty, but I wanted to know what happend to all the Tributes that die away from her point of view... I was hoping they would at least mention Thresh in the "Highlight reel"... but it gave me the feeling of them pulling their punches and that kinda took me out of the story.
But I did like it very much. Read the last half the book in a day.

Damn... finished the 3rd book last night. 6 days for 2 books?
It was a easy read and I liked it enough to be motivated I guess.
But I thought the ending was a downer.
Not the kind of story you can get a happily ever after ending... but still.
Starting Game of Thrones now.

FIND YOUR DISTRICT WITH THESE NEW POSTERS FROM THE HUNGER GAMES

JoBlo.com wrote:
I have a feeling that we will soon be slammed with photos, clips, and whatever else. Today it's posters. Five of the twelve districts are represented here. Every district specializes in a certain industry. If you head over to the site for the film, you will be given a job and an identification card.
