According to a report from Vulture, a remake is now in the works for Starship Troopers , the reboot of the 1997 film now joining remakes of RoboCop and Total Recall that will similarly revive Paul Verhoeven’s sci-fi films without all that embarrassingly dated irony and cutting satire, which are things we used to enjoy before 9/11.

Three nearly-perfect action films about to be ruined. I'd still rather watch any of them than any action film released in the past decade. And don't begin to preach about what irony and satire is or isn't embarrassingly dated. IOW, movieline, consider this a divorce.

Oh, ho, ho, irony! Oh, no, no, we don't get that here. See, uh, people ski topless here while smoking dope, so irony's not really a, a high priority. We haven't had any irony here since about, uh, '83, when I was the only practitioner of it. And I stopped because I was tired of being stared at.
