#1 Post by Nunis » 02 Mar 2005, 07:53

Fever Pitch

Director: Farrelly Bros.
Cast: Drew Barrymore, Jimmy Fallon

Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: 8 April (US), 12 August (UK)

Plot Summary: Based on the Nick Hornby novel and movie Fever Pitch (1997) starring Colin Firth. Ben meets Lindsey. They fall in love. All things are wonderful. But their future together is threatened once the baseball season comes around and Lindsey discovers something about Ben... his obsession with the Boston Red Sox.

IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0332047/
Trailer: http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/fever_pitch/

Nunis says: Silly Americans who can't just be happy with original movies. Another pointless remake.

Shudder...

Even I will refuse to see this...

The final straw was getting Fallon and Barrymore onto the field at Busch Stadium after the final out. Crass, crass, crass.

Why can't we leave well enough alone? What's wrong with the Colin Firth version? Fuckin' yanks.

Wow. How far the United States as come...we can host the World Cup; we can practically invent the women's soccer scene; we can call every 30-something breeding female in the country a "soccer mom" and yet when it comes to remaking a soccer movie, for fucks' sake make damn sure you LEAVE THE SOCCER PART OUT OF IT, because no one will come.

(Hums national anthem) Gentleman.

I haven't seen it (well, actually I've watched about 10 minutes of it, so it doesn't count), but I guess the original didn't have low brow gags in it.

If Hornby could have written a decent fart joke then they wouldn't have needed either Fallon or the Farrelly Bros. What a hack.
Robin: "Gosh, Batman, is there anything you don't know?"
Batman: "Oh yes, Robin. Several things, in fact."

I refuse to believe someone purposely put Jimmy Fallon opposite of Drew Barrymore as a romantic interest and didnt get fired.

Actually watched the trailer this time...

Will it be worth the sucky love story to see the Sox footage on the big screen...? I'm conflicted.

(of course, this assumes a cinema release in the UK)

Chances, doubtful

If there ever was a role that called out to Ben Affleck, an actual Red Sox fan.

Am I wrong here? How much would you take from Jimmy Fallon, before you dumped his sorry ass? Colin Firth maybe, but Jimmy Fallon? Doesn't it make much more sense for the guy to be attractive enough to put up with his obsession? On my planet, obnoxious Sox fans who choose their passion over their woman get as much play as Comic Book Guy on The Simpsons.

And is there anything less lovable than a Red Sox fan? Well, maybe a Red Sox fan who finds nothing more important than the Red Sox.

Seriously, are they just not going to bother with giving him endearing characteristics? 'Cuz none would be believable.

Read that Fever Pitch is no.3 at the US box office behind Sahara and Sin City. Words fail me.
