Breakfast Club?
Saw this before The Dark Knight and was very glad it was just a commercial and not a remake. I wondered why they were so well dressed.

Don't venture in here much, mainly because I usually see something that annoys the hell out of me, but not sure if this has been posted. It's the first I've heard, although I watched part of it a couple of weeks back and thought "why has no-one remade this yet?"
Statler: Well, how do you like the film?
Waldorf: I've seen detergents leave a better film than this.

Don't they realize RH is a shitty movie. The only appeal is the cult aspect of it.

I agree that it should not be remade. But if they are hell-bent on doing it, Brand as Frank might be funny.

Evidently not...
The original 1975 movie, which starred Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Meat Loaf, is set to be remade, with studio bosses were keen to replicate the original's success.
The film opened in the US at the UA Theatre in Westwood, California on September 26, 1975. It did well at that location but not elsewhere. The cult following did not begin until the movie began its midnight run at the Waverly Theatre in New York on April 1, 1976.
In other rumor news...Oh Dear God!:
Bloody-Disgusting.com wrote:B-D reader 'Time Warper' writes in to B-D, "In a recent interview with E!, shock-rocker Marilyn Manson revealed that 20th Century Fox has approached him to star as the sweet transvestite, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, in an update of the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, tentatively titled Rocky Horror.
Good thing that was from 2 years ago. :mishchief:

What's wrong with remaking a shitty movie? (When good movies (that aren't dated) get remade, that's when I think something stupid is going on ― especially since they almost never seem to make much money.) I mean, if they make it not shitty, that'd be great. (Admittedly, nobody has said that they're going to remake RHPS and make a good movie.)
It's such a fine line between stupid and clever.

All it's appeal is tied up in it's cult status. People who know this movie, know it (often line-for-line). Would you agree that will not be re-created? So, the final product will more than likely be a shitty re-make of a shitty movie that won't have any of the appeal of it's original shitty self.
And you're right... if it turns out not shitty, that would be fine.

It's really not that old of a movie. The special effects are fine, the acting is fine, and Freddy is the scariest he can be, so what is the need for a remake? Is there anything that the remake has to add to make it necessary? Casting Billy Bob is either a sign of utter desperation to make this, or that they just don't care. The filmmakers behind the first Nightmare got it right the first time, same with Halloween and Psycho, and look what happened to them! Like, did some guy just watch the first Freddy movie and say "Gee whiz, I could totally take this idea and improve it a ton"? Did somebody see some fatal flaw in the original? I mean, it makes no sense!
Nobody dies anymore... they just pass away.

RIP George

The Message Gets A Modern Remake
28 October 2008 5:10 AM, PDT

A controversial 1970s biopic of the prophet Muhammad is to receive a big-screen makeover - The Message is to be remade for modern film fans.

The English-language movie provoked outrage among Muslims prior to its release when it was rumoured that actor Anthony Quinn would portray the religious leader.

Depictions of the prophet are unheard of in Islam because of fears it will lead to idolatry, which is forbidden in the religion.

The claims that Quinn had been cast as Muhammad sparked riots in the U.S. in 1977, resulting in the death of two people. Quinn did not play Muhammad - instead director Moustapha Akkad signified the prophet's presence in scenes with light organ music.

Now the film's producer, Oscar Zoghbi, has revealed plans to revamp the 1976 movie and give it a modern twist.

He is looking to shoot the remake, titled The Messenger of Peace, in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.

But Zoghbi insists he is not trying to cause offence with the film.

He says, "We have only the utmost respect for (the original film) but technology in cinema has advanced since the 1970s. This latest project will employ modern film techniques in its renewal of the first film's core messages."
