Nice. The ultra-rare perfect score on the nsfw side

Species

I had this memory of this being a trashy film with no redeeming qualities beyond some T&A. That’s not quite true. The cast is really remarkable with Oscar winners Ben Kingsley, Forest Whitaker & Michelle Williams, plus Alfred Molina & Michael Madsen. Of course, none of them are doing anything close to award winning performances here. The only award Species should have been up for is Natasha Henstridge for most spectacular tits 1995.

I can still remember vividly emerging from the theater after a double of Spieces (a.k.a. "Feces") and Sly Stallone's Judge Dredd. Reflecting on the latter, I found Species a taut thriller and rousing good time by comparison.

Blade Runner 2049

I have tried several times to get into the original Blade Runner but have never enjoyed it. That has carried over into this sequel. It was decent but never really captivated me. I loved the look of the movie but not much else. Its kind of shady that co-top billed Harrison Ford doesn’t even appear until after many films have already ended, after the 90 minute mark. Ford’s presence is strong once he does show up. He’s still got it and made me sad to think we probably won’t get to see too many more performances like this out of him.

Death Wish

I watched this to have a fresh memory of it to compare to the new remake. I was really struck by the gun control discussion that comes up in the middle. Its interesting to hear this 1974 perspective within the modern context. I think the most shocking thing is the lack of resolution regarding Goldblum and his buddies never being brought to justice. I’ll be shocked if the remake doesn’t address this.

Keep your eyes peeled for a very young Christopher Guest

Tango and Cash

The action scenes are fine. Kurt Russell is adept at walking the line between funny and tough. Stallone tries to keep up but he can’t and ends up ruining the whole film. He delivers every line with this weird sarcastic tone, trying to make everything funny but it just comes across as insufferable.

Bug

This is such an odd movie. It is pretty fucked up. Michael Shannon is fantastic. Ashley Judd is just about in her own class at playing white trash who’s still kinda hot.

Friday the 13th

I begrudgingly watched this because my daughter wanted to see it. This movie has some nice moments, but for the most part, it’s trash. The ending is especially horrifying, but not in the way you want a horror movie to be. And, in case you’re wondering, I went back and took this tit pic after my daughter went to bed. The kids are well accustomed to me taking pictures of the screen by now, but it didn’t seem prudent to say “hang on, I need to rewind so I can get a clear photo of those boobs.”
