Host Game - Round 21 - Cite Seeing - CLOSED

#1 Post by alan smithee » 19 Oct 2008, 10:59

Please read all of this. Please PM me questions if any of this is not clear.

Explanation: Images 1-9 are from 9 separate movies, each frozen when someone is saying the title of one of movies A-I. Your goal is to identify movies 1-9 and movie A-I and to figure out the nine pairings.

Example: If, for example, you thought 1 was When Harry Met Sally... (when Harry mentions) Oklahoma!, then you should expect to find a still from Oklahoma! among A-I (in the example below, I've pretended that movie G is Oklahoma!).

Submission format: Please submit your answers in the following format (I've filled in a (wrong) example):

Code: Select all

1. When Harry Met Sally...
2. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE 2>
3. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE 3>
4. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE 4>
5. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE 5>
6. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE 6>
7. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE 7>
8. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE 8>
9. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE 9>

A. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE A>
B. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE B>
C. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE C>
D. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE D>
E. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE E>
F. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE F>
G. Oklahoma!
H. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE H>
I. <TITLE HERE FOR MOVIE I>

1-G
2-<LETTER FOR MOVIE THAT IS BEING NAMED IN MOVIE 2>
3-<LETTER FOR MOVIE THAT IS BEING NAMED IN MOVIE 3>
4-<LETTER FOR MOVIE THAT IS BEING NAMED IN MOVIE 4>
5-<LETTER FOR MOVIE THAT IS BEING NAMED IN MOVIE 5>
6-<LETTER FOR MOVIE THAT IS BEING NAMED IN MOVIE 6>
7-<LETTER FOR MOVIE THAT IS BEING NAMED IN MOVIE 7>
8-<LETTER FOR MOVIE THAT IS BEING NAMED IN MOVIE 8>
9-<LETTER FOR MOVIE THAT IS BEING NAMED IN MOVIE 9>
Scoring: You will receive one point for each screenshot correctly identified (I will not accept the wrong sequel (e.g. Star Trek III when I'm looking for Star Trek II) ? there are six total movies that either are sequels or have (real) sequels, three in 1-9 and three in A-I). You will receive ½ points for each correct pairing. Maximum possible total: 22.5 (scores will be capped at 20).

Any part in A-I: The particular scene pictured in A-I need not be related to the dialogue in the associated 1-9 film (e.g., if When Harry Met Sally... were actually an answer, it could be paired up with any scene in Oklahoma!, not just one where "Surrey with a Fringe on Top" is being sung).

PMs: I will allow everyone two attempts (not two per question, but two total PMs ? so make each attempt count). Please title your first PM "Round 21 answers - attempt 1" and only send it when you're ready for me to open and give you :green:s and :red:s. Then title your second PM "Round 21 answers - attempt 2" ? I'll open that at the deadline (so you can edit it until the round ends if you want). (If you add "OPEN NOW!" because you're antsy, I'll open the PM as soon as I get it, but that'll end the round for you.) A PM with any other title will be opened by me as soon as I notice it.

Links: For a few pictures, I've included links to secondary images, sometimes because the secondary image is NSFW, sometimes because I liked more than one image, and, well, sometimes because I like hyperlinks. Enjoy.

External help: Feel free to use IMDb, Google, and any other resources at your disposal.

Due date: Answers are due by Mon 27 Oct 08 @ 11:59am PDT (6:59pm UTC/GMT). (Was Sun 26 Oct 08.)

Robin: "Gosh, Batman, is there anything you don't know?"
Batman: "Oh yes, Robin. Several things, in fact."

A lot easier than it originally seemed...
If you wake up at a different time in a different place could you wake up as a different person?

Due to the board being down last night, the due time for this round has been moved 24 hours. It is now due Mon 29 Oct 08 at 11:59a.

Also, consider this your 24-hour (and 16 minute) warning.

(I still only have first guesses from dawson99, mmmmm movies, and Nunis.)

I have.

I should've been clearer -- I only included people who scored below 20 on their first guesses.

scores are up in the first post
answers are up in the second post

(I think the average is 19 + 10/17 or approximately 19.59)
